Crossroads of Historic Higley 2009-2010 Project Timeline

Fall 2009

October 24th - Open House/Project Kick-Off at San Tan Historical Society featuring guest speaker, Dr. Dan Shilling, Author of Civic Tourism: The Poetry and Politics of Place (Sharlot Hall Museum Press, 2007)

Winter 2009/2010

Under the instruction of Dr. Kim Chuppa-Cornell, Humanities/Language Faculty at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, we will be recording community members’ stories, an on-going effort by the San Tan Historical Society to preserve the unique personal histories of the area’s residents.

Spring 2010

Narratives of local/Arizona history will be finalized. Audio excerpts from the oral histories will be selected to compliment the narratives on the driving tour.

If you have photographs or written family history that you would like to submit for use in CHH, please submit them by April 2010.

As with oral histories, The San Tan Historical Society will always be collecting written histories and photographs as means of preserving the area’s heritage.

Summer 2010

Finalize graphical insert, recording of narrated driving tour and CD/MP3 production.

Fall 2010

Public Presentation at Higley Center for the Performing Arts
